Discrimination or they just Evil, since Ossetians and Russians were not paying ? _* McCain adviser got money from GeorgiaWed Aug 13, 2008 12:51 PM EDT politics, mccain , john-*mccain*, lobbyist Pete Yost, Associated Press Writers John McCain's chief foreign policy adviser and his business partner lobbied the senator or his staff on 49 occasions in a 3 1/2-year span while being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by the government of the former Soviet republic of Georgia. The payments raise ethical questions about the intersection of Randy Scheunemann's personal financial interests and his advice to the Republican presidential candidate who is seizing on Russian conflict with Georgia as a campaign issue. On April 17, a month and a half after Scheunemann stopped working for Georgia, his partner signed a $200,000 agreement with the Georgian government. The deal added to an arrangement that brought in more than $800,000 to the two-man firm from 2004 to mid-2007. For the duration of the campaign, Scheunemann is taking a leave of absence from the firm. "Scheunemann's work as a lobbyist poses valid questions about McCain's judgment in choosing someone who - and whose firm - are paid to promote the interests of other nations," said New York University law professor Stephen Gill...

iReport
<media:category>News</media:category><media:keywords>lieberman, mccain, obama, georgia, russia, ossetia, saakashvili, bush, palin</media:keywords>

NATO Lost a Lot by supporting Aggressor on S Ossetia.

17 NATO Lost a Lot by supporting Aggressor on S Ossetia. Part 1.MOV - RT Interview with Ron Paul on Russia 2008-01-20.flv - Russia hopes new U.S. leader would stop surrounding it with missiles.MOV - October 30, 2008, 5:52 BBC wakes up to Georgian 'war crimes' The BBC says it has obtained evidence that the Georgian army may have committed war crimes during August's military offensive in South Ossetia. Britain's flagship broadcaster heard testimonies during the first unrestricted visit to South Ossetia by a foreign news organisation since the conflict ended. Photographs taken by Russian journalists in the first days of the conflict tell a disturbing story. But it is only now - more than two months later - that the world is looking at these pictures and reflecting on their meaning. For many, they paint a picture of indiscriminate force used against unarmed civilians. It's a side of the story international broadcasters have been accused of ignoring. A report by the BBC's Newsnight programme suggests Georgia's armed forces committed war crimes during their attack in August. The BBC says the evidence proving this comes from the first unrestricted visit to South Ossetia by their correspondent. Taisiya Sitnik, or Taya, as the BBC reporter calls her, had spent many hours under the rubble of her apartment block in Tskhinval, with no food or water, in a dress covered with the blood of her dead son. She had already shared her tragic story once with an RT correspondent, three days into the conflict. More than two months later the BBC is finally telling her story. Richard Sakwa, a professor of politics and international relations at the University of Kent in the UK, said he'd been inundated with messages complaining about how the Western media were covering the war. "I'm a great believer in popular common sense - the amount of emails I received and other messages - because people know I'm in...

iReport
<media:category>News</media:category><media:keywords>nato, obama, ossetia, russia, medvedev, bush, rice, georgia, dictator, saakashvili</media:keywords>

Blagojevich On Media Blitz

p> Embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich revealed on Monday that he had mulled over the possibility of appointing popular talk show host Oprah Winfrey to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama.
-
He made the revelation on ABC’s Good Morning America, one of many shows he was scheduled to appear on instead of attending the first day of his impeachment trial over allegations he tried to sell the seat for personal gain.
-
"[Oprah] seemed to be someone who had helped Barack Obama in a significant way to become president. She was obviously someone with a much broader bully pulpit than a lot of senators," Blagojevich told host Diane Sawyer.
-
Though Blagojevich acknowledges Winfrey was unlikely to accept the seat, he said he considered how to offer it in a way that didn't "look like a gimmick" or embarrass her.
-
In the end, Blagojevich appointed former Illinois attorney general Roland Burris to the seat left vacant by Obama after he was elected U.S. president.
-
The Democratic governor was on a media blitz Monday that includes appearances on ABC's The View, the Today show and Larry King Live.
-
Meanwhile, a state senate trial was getting underway in Springfield, Ill., to determine whether to remove Blagojevich from office and bar him from ever again holding public office in the state.
-
The senators are expected to hear recordings that allegedly reveal the governor talking about signing legislation in exchange for campaign contributions.
-
Blagojevich told Good Morning America that he chose to speak to the public instead of defending himself before the senators, who he said are predetermined to find him guilty.

"The fix is in," he said.
-
He also reiterated his declaration of innocence and criticized the impeachment trial, calling it unconstitutional and saying it denies him the right to call witnesses to defend himself.

With files from the Associated Press<...

MediaScrape
<media:category>News</media:category><media:keywords>news, nuvu, ibctoday, bbc, cbc, reuters, ap, asia news international, mediascrape, nepal, romania, indonesia, nigeria, zambia, canada, united states, america, south, north, east, west, greece, china, japan, turkey, iran, israel, palestine, chile, brazil, peru, south africa, politic, election, protest, party, parliament, congress, senate</media:keywords>
